DEATH OF A POEM

Used Words fade into Memory

.

Wandering vaguely through the corridors

stray thoughts dance momentarily

only to disappear without fanfare

.

Cold formation of intent

shrouded trappings of desire

needs to be considered

.

Words fall conveying reality

mocking false coherence

poetic symmetry fills the void

.

Describing this very wonderful day

I have but only a few words to say

about the passion displayed that way

how it left me blank and holding the tray

.

I’m not complaining

don’t get me wrong

but no one’s invited

to sing my song

.

Of this I’m sure

without a doubt

I’m simply poor

with little clout

.

Words won’t fail

the sky won’t fall

I’ll muddle through

holding on to the wall

.

So don’t be sad

when time is near

just sit right down

and have a beer

.

After a long and laborious pause

thoughts once trusted become ghost

fleeting moments of sanity describe contempt

now fallen by the wayside a poem dies

.
